Penfield Children’s Center’s Special Care Nursery provides
rehabilitation and day services for medically fragile children,
including children recently discharged from area hospitals.
Many of the children in our Nursery were born prematurely,
or have conditions present at birth relating to chromosomal
abnormalities or birth injuries, resulting in cerebral palsy,
Down syndrome, seizure disorders, breathing or feeding problems,
and other neuromuscular disorders.
Our staff, which includes a Licensed Practical Nurse and Certified
Nursing Assistants, perform daily cares for the children, including
oxygen administration, suctioning and tube feeding, and medications
administration under the supervision of our pediatric RN. |
